Projects · behind the services
How the speech services fit together.
Speech processing, API access and the desktop app each have a different job. Here’s how they connect, and where to find the setup guides.
Looking to use the paid APIs? Go to Services →The speech server
Whisper turns a recording into text. A compatible server can support a desktop dictation app or an application making API requests. It needs enough capacity for the model and the recordings it processes.
Run your own dictation server →
The public API service
The x402 service adds per-request payment and API access for agents and applications. It also offers narration and approved private voice cloning. Its payment and usage records are separate from Murmur’s hosted accounts.
Murmur on the desktop
Murmur records your speech and handles the returned text on Windows. You can connect your own compatible server or use Murmur’s hosted option. Hosted cleanup uses a separate Qwen service; it is not the external text-model service listed in the developer storefront’s separate 18+ area.
