Accessibility

Built to be easy to read and use.

NeuroDynamic is designed with neurodivergent people in mind, and for anyone who finds the web tiring. Here’s what you can change, what we’ve built in, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Change the site to suit you

Choose Display (the Aa button at the top of every page). Your choices are saved in this browser and apply to every page.

  • Colours. Dark, Cream or Mist. Cream and Mist are softer on the eyes for long reading.
  • Text size. Standard, Larger or Largest. The whole page grows, not just the words.
  • More space. Extra room between lines and words, so the text is easier to follow.
  • Easy-read font. One plain font everywhere, with no italics.
  • Reading ruler. A soft band that follows your pointer, to help you keep your place.
  • Reduce movement. Stops the animations and the moving app examples. We also follow your device’s own “reduce motion” setting.
  • Read aloud. Have the whole page, or just the text you've selected, read to you in our natural voice, with the part being read highlighted. The voice is made on our own servers. If it isn't available, you can choose a voice installed on your device.
  • Your browser’s tools still work. Zoom, reader view, screen readers and your own fonts and colours aren’t blocked.

What we’ve built in

  • Plain English. Short sentences, one idea at a time, and no jargon without an explanation.
  • Clear routes. Every page starts with what it’s for, and guides tell you how long each step takes.
  • Works without extras. Pages and guides can be read without JavaScript. The moving examples show their finished state instead.
  • Keyboard friendly. Every control can be reached and used with the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Phones and tablets. Pages fit the screen without sideways scrolling, and buttons are big enough to tap.
  • Calm by default. Only one example moves at a time, and nothing flashes.

What we’re still working on

We check pages ourselves on phones and desktops, but we haven’t had a formal accessibility audit yet. Some older pages, like the forum archive, haven’t been updated to the new design. The app examples on the homepage are illustrations, not live apps; each one has a written caption.

Something in your way? Tell us.

If something is hard to read, hard to reach, or just doesn’t work for you, we want to know. You don’t need to write it perfectly: tell us what happened and where, in your own words.
