Request adjustments for a certification exam

Certification providers have different arrangements for extra time, breaks, assistive technology and other exam adjustments. Start with the process for your particular exam before choosing a test date.

Find the right route

The awarding organisation sets the exam policy, even when another company delivers the test. Pearson VUE’s programme directory links to the relevant request routes, including CompTIA and Cisco. Microsoft also publishes its own accommodations guidance.

Ask what is needed

Explain the barrier you experience and the adjustment you are requesting. Check what evidence is accepted, how to submit it privately and how long a decision normally takes. Requirements can differ between programmes and between online and test-centre delivery.

Confirm before booking

Follow the provider’s instructions about approval and scheduling. Confirm that the agreed adjustments appear on your booking, and ask who to contact if they are missing on the day.
